Rod has lived and worked in Osceola County
for about 35 years. Those years have seen big changes come about in
Florida. Now retired, Rod seeks out
and photographs Florida's natural places. These have remained as they have
always been, largely unchanged by human populations. Florida's managed wetlands, uplands and coastal
areas offer opportunities to glimpse the majesty of Florida as it was in its
former pristine beauty. Looking
through his lens artificial worlds of urban sprawl, gigantic theme parks, and manicured resort lawns all disappear. In
their place you see "nature's gallery." This amazing place is
populated by beautiful native plants and remarkable animals. All freely
living in Florida's
wild spaces; just as some have done for many millions of years.
Currently Rod and Dee are
completing the University
of Florida Extension Service
"Florida Master Naturalist Program," (specialty training in Florida's ecologically
sensitive habitats) to better capture authentic, accurate images of Florida's flora and
fauna.
